Content Optimization

With the importance of content optimization becoming more of reality every day not just for search engines to be able to index your website but also to create a loyal website visitor base it is amazing that more information about how to create great content is not available.

There still seems to be a focus on many websites that the visitor is coming to learn about the company’s latest products, specifications, industry awards and the number of satisfied customers that have surfaced over the months or years of operation. [More...]

But the real reason that people use the Internet to begin with is to find information that will solve the problems that they are facing. The reality is a visit to your website is only interested in what you can do for them.

To optimize your content for Q1 of visitors as well as search engines the two key points to keep in mind our relevancy and authority. Your content optimization begins with the amount of relevant information you can provide on a particular subject related to your product or service. Authority is established when you can provide an abundance of information, resources and links to other us authority sites that make you the first site of visitor turns to for information on the product or service on your website.

In the past when the Internet was just beginning many webmasters use a variety of techniques such as “keyword stuffing” and “hidden text” as a primitive version of content optimization.

For certain period of time this worked well however these practices have been banned by search engines for several years, yet surprisingly this practice is rearing its ugly head once again and unfortunately the websites that are using it have very little true content to offer their audiences.

True content optimization is based on factual information, useful benefits, related services and products as well as into action with the visitors through proactive customer service.

There are many ways to provide quality content optimization for a website; articles written by yourself or contributed by your visitors is an excellent way to keep your finger on the pulse of what is going on in your particular industry segment.

Keeping your focus on the interest of your customer base is also an important factor in content optimization. Your website visitors are extremely intelligent, savvy individuals who visited a variety of websites some of them would argue competitors. Without relevant content optimization to give them the information that they want and need you are literally directing them to your competitor’s website and losing sales in the process.

Without a doubt this is a challenging time as the Internet becomes much more socially oriented and open source-based. But smart webmasters can use this to their advantage and as a tool in their content optimization. The most important factor to keep in mind is that the website visitor interests and concerns of their primary focus: make that the focus of your website content optimization and you can realize profits.

There seems to always be this fine line between optimizing your pages for SEO (or monitization) and for usefulness to the reader. I know some bloggers that are espeically adept in working their keywords into their posts so they fit naturally.

I linked to your site, but I don’t think the ping came thru on your end. oh well. Btw, my blog is dofollow, stop by and grab a link.

  4. Interesting piece of thought. I think at the end of the day, what matters most is what value you give to your readers and what you do for search engines. You can’t run away from that equation.

I just write naturallly and never bother with the keyword density and deep search engine optimization stuff. If they come, they come. if not, I try to be patient enough so that massive traffic builds up in the longrun…:-)

I think there’s nothing worse than reading a clumsily phrased, hastily written, keyword stuffed web page or blog post. Not only is it distracting to the reader (for me it is anyway) but it’s so obvious! If the writer isn’t of a professional standard and they’ve decided on x amount of keywords to fit in no matter if the words gel smoothly with the content or not, the results can be abysmal. Just look at the front page of the ezinearticles site for example and run your eye down the newest articles any day. You’ll figure out the keyword stuffers from the excerpts alone, never mind the full article. Those I personally wouldn’t even click on.

Shawn, I like how you think. :) I agree – if you’re writing on a subject you know well, the keywords will be there anyway naturally. It does no harm to be conscious of them while you’re writing of course but the content should always, always, be the primary concern and keywords secondary imho.

I’ve been tooting that particular horn for years and I won’t write something that doesn’t make sense just to fulfill a keyword requirement either for business or pleasure.I prefer to write from the heart than be robotic about it. The best writers can blend the two seamlessly and if they’re very lucky they get the best clients who can see the need for both.

  7. It may be good to think about a few of the keywords before even beginning to write your post. This way, it may help you find a more perfect balance between pleasing the human audience and the search engine. It’s a lot harder if you work on keyword optimization after you’ve written it.
