Why You’re Not Blogging – and Why You Should Start Today!

It has not been that long since blogging has taken off as one of the top ways to drive traffic to your website. Many have not jumped on the bandwagon yet. Why is this? Perhaps you don’t realize the significant benefits to be gained from blogging. Perhaps you believe it will require too much time or the expense is too high. Perhaps you aren’t a writer or you just don’t like writing. Whatever your reason for not blogging, if you have a site that you want to drive additional traffic to, you should definitely consider starting.

Blogging makes it possible to go from your site getting a few hits a month to dozens of hits a day. Think of your blog as food. Food for thought and food for those hungry search engine spiders that are crawling all over the web. By drawing these spiders to your site, you will eventually be drawing visitors to your site as well as these spiders return to their “nest” and index the pages of your site.

Since most blogs automatically generate content feeds, the structure is extremely search engine friendly. Blogs engage the audience, causing them to come back again and again. If you provide visitors with something of value, they will eventually buy. Blogging shortens the sales cycle and is an effective and efficient marketing tool. Blogging is the courtship period that allows your visitors to get to know who you are and what you have to say. They can decide whether or not they like what you say or, if they like you.

If the reason you’re not blogging is because you aren’t a good writer or you don’t like to write, you’re making a big mistake. Blogging doesn’t require an author to have perfect grammar or perfect punctuation. Blogging is about creating your own style and most readers don’t expect it to be perfect.

Remember, all you need are a few short paragraphs when writing for your blog. It is casual and comfortable. No one expects industry jargon or professional speaking. Your readers simply want information. Given the tremendous benefits received, you should start blogging your way to success today.

If you are still uncomfortable with writing, you can hire a freelance ghost blogger for a very reasonable price. While it won’t be coming directly from you, if you hire a writer whom you trust and respect, the benefits should be very much the same. Take the time to read some blogs and see if you agree with what they are saying.

If you’re not blogging because you aren’t a “techie,” you should know that there are blog programs available that are extremely user friendly and easy to use. These programs allow you to simply log in to your administrative page, type your thoughts for the day, spell check and proofread what you’ve written, and click publish! It’s as easy as that.

If you are a small to medium business owner, you may be worried that a blog will cost too much. However, many common blog programs are offered at no or very little cost. The free programs work just fine and provide you with an opportunity to realize the advantages.

Sit down and think about why you’re not blogging. Write down every pro and con you can think of. You are sure to find that the benefits far outweigh any negatives. Get started blogging today, give it some time to work, and enjoy the many rewards. Blogging is considered by many to be a necessity for website marketing. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to drive traffic to your site.

@ Bruno Auger: True. Their are many reasons why people are scared of blogging but main one i have realise is the fear of writing. There is this mentality or maybe a myth that is going on in many peoples head which goes something like “in order to blog i have to be a writer” this is certainly not true. Welcome to blogriffic and thanks for stopping by.

I disagree that blogging doesn’t require good grammar and punctuation. If you are blogging for a business you grammar and punctuation need to reflect the company you are blogging for.

If you have poor grammar on a business’s site nobody will respect you or your product.

True Adam, of course you need to have a basic understanding of writing and grammar but the point i was trying to make is you don’t have to be some top notch writer in order to have a successful blog.

  11. Adding a blog to one’s site has become a way to turn a static page into one that shows that there is activity going on behind the scenes. People are starting to expect that sites show that they are not inactive. It is better for a consumer if the service providing them a product shows their presence and presents how some of their time is used.
