Why Your Blog Design is so Important

Blogs are taking the Internet world by storm. Thousands of new blogs are created worldwide by those who have already discovered how powerful a tool it is in getting published and making your mark on the World Wide Web.

Blogs initially served as online journals for the young people but it gradually became an ideal platform for online entrepreneurs in promoting their products and services. The relative ease of starting and managing a blog has brought a new form of online advertising.

Believe it or not, lots of people read blogs. It is even a proven fact that people make return visits to blogs that hold their interest and post updated entries on a regular basis. Many blogs have been dedicated to celebrities, sports, food, hobbies, travel, and even movies and television shows. You may not be aware of it but if you are a regular Internet surfer, you have probably read more blog posts than you think.

The Importance of Design

One factor that keeps readers coming back is the blog template and design. First and foremost, bloggers must avoid cluttered pages and bulky sentences. It is also important that the overall layout of your blog suit your brand or personality.

Your blog’s success partly depends on your blog design. Apart from your content, it is the next important thing that readers see. How easy your design is in the eyes plays a factor on your readership. The colors and the shapes you use contribute to the overall experience of your blog visitors. If the experience had been a pleasant one, readers are sure to return.

Fortunately, free blog hosting services available online give users plenty of options to choose from. The most popular ones such as Blogger, Xanga, Livejournal, Wordpress, and Multiply offer various templates that could be tweaked and customized to suit your taste. This would serve you perfectly if you have yet to learn how to create your own design.

You could enhance your blog template with several elements readily available online. These include advertisements, which, apart from improving your site, could also earn you revenues. Advertisements could be useful to many of your readers.

A banner is also a good way to personalize your blog design further. You have the option to use banners offered by the blog host but it is better if you learn how to create your own. Banners could carry your company logo or any other related header design. You could include photos of your company in the banner or even as a background for your whole blog.

The key is blending the right color combinations so that your blog exudes a sense of harmony in every page. This will make your readers more comfortable during their “stay.” Invest time in customizing your blog design because it is guaranteed to be a time well spent. Not only will your visitors be satisfies, but you as well. The right blog design could inspire you enough to come up with high-quality content and persuasive descriptions for your products and services.

I also think that the design of a blog is very important because when the reader comes and doesnt like what he is seeing than he leaves.

Your blog design is the first impression that you give your readers and so it helps your readers decide whether they should stay or not.

  4. Your blog design is definitely important. If you have a week cheesy looking theme people will see your blog/site as being that way also. Depending on how serious you are about it, if you don’t mind spending a little money you could also pay a skilled designer to create a bad ass custom Wordpress site. Wordpress rules the world! ;-)

I fully agree with you here, Salwa. I’m very much a 3-column design kind of guy, with my content in the middle. It doesn’t leave lots of room for ads on the sides, but what it does leave me I like to use.

What i try to do is create a blog for my affiliate business but use a color scheme that attracts the eye. I dont like when i go to a blog and it looks mundane, all business and no play. What would you suggest for a business blog? I just like the feeling of a calmness with my blog with nice pictures.

  12. When choosing a design for a blog, put yourself in the visitors place. Would you like to visit a blog overflowing with ads, cluttered posts and hard to find categories, or would you like a clean simple style with everything in place. I guess you would choose latter, since you do not to get lost in the “wilderness of a blog”.

Design is the key to attract visitors and putting up a rocking theme can just help you convert the visitors into loyal readers.
