Would you like to visit a blog overflowing with ads, cluttered posts and hard to find categories, or would you like a clean simple style with everything in place. I guess you would choose latter, since you do not to get lost in the "wilderness of a blog". I'm very much a 3-column design kind of guy, with my content in the middle. It doesn't leave lots of room for ads on the sides, but what it does leave me I like to use.
