Social Media Marketing Should Be an Ongoing Process

I’ve been missing for one month due to some personal health issues which rendered me confined to a hospital bed and still here unfortunately but I am getting better and on my road to recovery.

Also I just want to say thanks to all of my readers who sent me messages, emails to ask how I were. It is much appreciated and great motivation for me.

With that aside here’s a blog post i have put together for all of you about social media marketing.

We all know with the massive success of social media and public access web sites, advertisers and marketers have begun to capitalize on they massive power of social media. However, most of these marketers are looking for a quick jolt of traffic to their site, or many sales in a short time. Most marketers do not plan for the long term.

If you are trying social media marketing, you should try to gain fans before you gain customers. Social media marketing should be an ongoing process, and the best way to build a successful marketing campaign is to build a loyal fan base. If you build followers first, you will make much more money in the end.

If you plan to advertise on videos through YouTube to satisfy your social media marketing needs, you should try to make quality videos. You could even start with a non-monetized (no advertisement) video to begin with, in order to gain subscribers. People are much more likely to visit your site or purchase your products if they feel like you provide quality content, and can be trusted. If you are using YouTube, use the same account for all your videos, and try to gain subscribers and fans before bombarding them with advertisements.

While social media marketing can provide massive amounts of traffic in little time, you should really focus on the future. The entire goal of internet marketing is to build a residual income, something that builds on itself and you don’t have to work too hard on. If you focus on “one hit wonders”, you may profit a lot in the next few weeks, but in a year or two, you will not be profiting at all, or even loosing money in certain paid campaigns.

Ask yourself this: would I rather make a large sum quickly, or a smaller sum every month for years to come? If you truly want to make a living with internet marketing you need to build streams of residual income. If you build multiple streams of residual income, you can literally make money in your sleep. There will be no need to work long hours, or even work at all! It is for that reason that I believe that social media marketing should be an ongoing process.

Internet marketing is about making many sites and monetizing them. However, you should not build so many sites that you cannot maintain their quality. You need to focus on your own future, and plan accordingly. Even if you have sites that produce $5 in revenue each day that is essentially free money. All you have to do is do some maintenance on your sites or blogs.

However, if you do not plan your social marketing campaigns for the future, you will find yourself having to work day and night in order to maintain your income. You should start one social marketing campaign and perfect it. Only after your campaign is as close to perfect as possible should you start a new one. Dime-a-dozen type campaigns should be avoided at all costs.

Great advice, that’s is very true that we should start campaigning for fans before customers and only start with minimal social media sites. Thanks and hope you get well soon.

  3. Thanks for the insights. This is what I am really planning of. I personally seen and read many blogs around the web. And some of those are really successful even if they are really new on the net. The reason behind this is, the owner focused 1st on his or her very first site. After he/she gain credibility and loyal followers, it is easy for him to create another site and popularized it using his 1st ever site.

PS: Did I deliver it well?

Social Media should always be on the process, it generates traffic for marketers like us. If its possible, it should always be done everyday. And hope you get well soon.

    • salwa says:

It can be kind of confusing at first but once you get the hang of it, it is not really that hard. I am planning on writing on this subject a lot from now on and maybe hopefully come with a series of article in this topic so please be sure to check that out!

  8. nichive says:

well, you fill me with more insight, yes that’s true.
I think I still have a long road ahead before seriously put some investment for any campaign.
(still have to get myself on a solid-rock first)

    • salwa says:

Yes it’s good to get your on a “solid-rock” first but it is definitely something worth to think about when the time is right.

I once heard the best predictor of success is whether you think long term or short term. The most successful people think long term.

I think many in this industry think it is cheap and easy to get a customer so they don’t recognize the long term value of a repeat buyer.

    • salwa says:

      Ned Carey,

Long Term Planning in Business is one of the most challenging tasks faced by many, however when you look at the advantages I’ll say it is definitely worth while.

      Thanks for your comment!

This can be hard, especially for businesses who are running close to the wire.

It can be difficult to justify time and money spent now for little immediate reward, when there are other things that can be done for immediate reward, but little long term benefit.

        • salwa says:

          Columbus Lasik Surgery,

True and for this very reason that you just raise now, people fail to plan for a long term but If you ask me I believe it is still very important and something to think about doing.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. It is much appreciated.

  10. I like the concept of social media marketing, yet it seems a bit harder than I originally thought. Thanks for going through it a bit more though.

    • salwa says:

      Daniel,

Glad my article was some sort of help. I am hoping to write more on this subject as I have found few of my readers struggling on this particular subject, so I don’tknow, maybe do a series of posts on this? We’ll see…….

  11. Nessie says:

I highly agree.. social media marketing should be maintain so that you wont get stagnant with what you already have or worst you might wake up that you are already on the last of the list.

  12. smashill says:

First of all, I hope you are fit again. Not many things are more annyoing than to have spend time at a hospital.
I like the idea of creating a stream of passive income, but who knows, maybe this is the wrong idea as the internet will change over the years and who knows now what will make the money in the future. Maybe it’s better to go for the big dogs and make as much money as you can.
I won’t know, as I dislike the idea of not doing what I want to do, which is offer good and solid advice for people who need it. Not some fancy bullshit that might sell well.

    • salwa says:

      Smashill,

Thank you for your well wishes. Yes I am doing much better now and was discharged from hospital last week :-D

Yes the internet is an ever chaching trend but I think we should work with it as it come as no one really know what’s going to happen in the future.

Thanks for your comment. Much Appreciated.

  13. Amanda says:

Social media marketing is surely an ongoing process because it is the one whi sustain our blogs/sites with the traffic it needs.
